Best used quad for around $1500?

Hey,
alright, all my friends have 4wheelers and i've wanted one since i was like 13. i'm 18 now and have a lawn care business, so i have a little money to spend. so it's either a 4wheeler or an old Jeep but i think the CJ would end up costing me more in the long run, plus all my friends have 4wheelers.
so my question to you guys: what's the best used 4wheeler i could get for around $1500? what year, what model, what engine, what mods would get me the most for my meager cash? i'd do mostly trail riding, (no dunes really), some mud, some water, the average stuff you find going through the woods. my riding buddies consist of Scrambler 500's, a Raptor, and several 300EX's. they are all 2wd, so i guess that's what i should get also just to try to keep up, unless maybe it's a Kodiak, but i doubt i could find one of those for cheap. obviously this is the Honda forum, so i expect your replies to generally be Honda related, but if you can be honest about good ATV's from other brands too.
many thanks,
bigmac

If I am buying a quad in that price range, odds are its going to be an older quad. This means one thing. It will damn sure be a honda. There are a lot more older hondas still running good than anything else. Thats just fact. As far as sport oriented quads go, its pick and choose. Like the other guy said, luck has a lot to do with it. With 2 strokes, you can get good or very bad condition stuff. Check into everything.
If you are lucky, you will find some older guy that bought it and didnt use or abuse it much, but needs to get rid of it to save garage space. Of course thats in a perfect world though.

No doubt get a 250X, or if you can find a 300EX for that cheap get that (if you perfer elctric start). Blasters just don't hold up long, they are cheaply made, thats why they sell for so little. They have low power, very cramped (unless your a midget) and **** poor brakes, and suspension.
Warriors aren't real goo ethier, they feel aquard (sp). They are heavey and not much power for a 350. They don't handle real good and aren't the most reliable quads either.
250X/300EX's are probably the best thing your gonna find for $1500 They are very reliable, easy to ride, Handle pretty good, not too heavey. IMO the best woods quad there is.
I wouldnt go with a Bayou or timberwolf if keeping up is an issue. They are mad slow and from what i've seen from the bayous not reliable. And the frotn suspension is trash. Brakes are mechanical drum all around....crappy.
