This past week, I ordered a Warn 424 Select (Part #WRN-62624) for my 1996 Honda 300 TRX 4X4. I should have it by Monday (6/24/02) via UPS. I will have it installed this next week and I will post of the results in the Honda Forum (how it was installed, any problems in installing, time, and how it works). If I like it, I will be ordering one for my 2001 Honda Rubicon. Cost of unit (62624) was $262.00 including shipping. Keep the faith and ride on......deer season is less than four months away.

I put Warn 424 Select on my 350 Friday night and put about 100 Km on it Saturday. What a differance, well worth the money. It is easy to put on, remove 4 bolts, pop out the old drive shaft, and pop in the new one.

Here are some Pics of it:

You shift by cable; I mounted it to the plastic on the left side just below the power outlet. There is a round disc with a button in the center. You pull out and it locks to shift to 2x4 push the button in to shift back to 4x4. You can shift on the fly in and out (I tried it at 30 km and you could not tell, no noise or jerk), although I would not do it if the rear wheels are spinning or under hard acceleration. You have to route the cable so there are no sharp bends and once done it shifts smooooth. Well worth the money.

I just posted information on installing and results of the Warn 424 Select on my 1996 Honda TRX300FW. See my post on July 6th (do a search on "Warn" in the Honda forums and look at "INSTALLED! Warn 424 Select on a Honda TRX300FW!" Great unit and my current post (7/6/02) provides more information and a couple of picture links. I will let you all know how the Warn 424 Select works on my 2001 Rubicon (when I purchase it - very soon - and install same). Great unit the Warn 424 Select, and highly recommend you getting one for your full time 4X4 Honda.

Dana67, I had Warn's 424 installed on my 1992 Honda 300. Here are a couple of my observations: 1) FUN. It turned my little 300 into somewhat of a sporty machine to ride. I had allot of fun sliding around the trees on the trails. 2) In 2WD remember to use the front brake in conjunction with the rear brake. The rear brake alone only causes skidding. 3) Somewhat reduced steering effort, in my humble opinion the 300 had pretty light steering to begin with. 4) Spend some time thinking about were to mount the 424 handle (left side or right side). I find that the 424 is easier to engage when accelerating.
