the z 400 has 28 stock hp wooooooooooowwww i guess that it will beat a raptor with those numbers. The z is a hunk of dong tractor. its mabye a lil better than the 400ex with a hp reading of 26.

Disturbed, When I raced the Z400 I wasn't on Alky yet and I was just getting the feel of having my bike be a 440. Now that I have the hang of it I'm runnin' with the big boys!

Fez, No the Z won't beat a Raptor but the 2 to 3 lengths difference that the Raptor manages to pull out from 4th gear on isn't impressive for 260 more cc's and a bunch more money. It's not much different that the kid with the 440EX that is bragging about outrunning stock Z's at least their is only a 40cc difference there. I have a feeling that when the Z's start showing up with 416 kits and 440 kits there will be a bunch more crap stirred up. I can hear the stock Raptor owner's already. (yeah but he had a 440 kit in it with a pipe)will be there cry.Gee there is still 220cc difference there. I hear the same thing in the car world when we drive the Turbo Regal to the track and click off mid 11 timeslips against open headered race cars. There excuse is yeah but it's got a Turbo. LOL Yeah but it's still a stock 231 cubic inch 6 cylinder with cold A/C. Hey when you guy's go riding with people with 400ex's and Z400's with your Raptor's do you all have fun or do you all sit around and argue about who is having the most fun on which quad. I've put time in on all of them except for a Dale in the woods and I really can't tell much difference between any of them once you get in the 400 class and above. And i've been riding since the 70s. Of course I realize that most people on here ride at the dunes and in open country and I don't have that luxury here in the midwest. I don't care how big of bore you put in the Raptor it won't help it's ability in the tech trails and thick woods. The rider himself becomes the equalizing factor when you hit the rough slow moving stuff.

10 feet is alot of ground to make up when you are only running a 300 foot drag.

Only the drag racers in here know that.

Sorry to say, but unless you weigh less than 100 lbs,........it's going to take more than a slip-on and a K&N.....LOL

my neighbor has a z400 and i am not all that impressed. my 400ex is bone stock besides a 16 tooth front sprocket. we raced and he pulled 2 fourwheeler lengths in second gear and then did not pull at all on me. on top end i slowly passed him. i am not bashing this bike because i do like it but i thought it would be faster. i do like the idea of reverse and liquid cooled but the power is not all that much different. i was planning on getting smoked but i didn't. later on it made up for it because i was just waxed by a banshee with pipes, jets, and a k and n air filter.

Put that 16 tooth of the Z and we will see how fast the Z will go! Right now it just revs out each gear and powers out in 5th. The reason it powers out in 5th is because on the dyno charts all the power drops off after 7500 rpm. Now if you were to increase the gearing you would have lower rpm at the same speed which would move the quad into the higher HP curve. Thus making the quad alot faster. I bet it would hit 75 mph with that 16 tooth sprocket and it would be able to keep its mid range power. Now imagine the Z with a pipe, now we're are talking!!!
