Holeshot tires for trail riding, XC, XCT, or XCR?
#1
I've got Holeshot MX tires on my 400ex right now, but instead of going the racing route, Im just going to continue trail-riding. My tires are for sale on Ebay right now, but my question is this, for trail riding, which have you guys had the most luck with...the Holeshot XC, XCT, or XCR? I've had Holeshot XC's on my 250R before, and I was very happy with them...traction wise and durability. I'm about to buy new tires, and until now I was sure I wanted to go with the newer XCT style. Has anyone used the XCR yet? Any difference performance-wise compared to the XCT? 90% Similar tire right? XC tires are more affordable, but then again, whats a few dollars?!

The XCR is a true 20" tall while the 20" XC is closer to 21" tall and about 1/2" - 1" wider also. The XCT is a 22" tire. The XCT and XCR have the angled ***** on the outer edge, the XC does not. For general trail use, I would go with the XC unless you need a 22" tire. In GNCC, most of the guys run the 20" XC, not the XCR for the extra little bit of clearance without having to go to the 22" XCT. Hope this helps.

I run XCT's on the 400. I geared down (one tooth larger in the rear) to accomodate the larger than stock 22" rear tire. My other sport bikes have XC's on them. All of them have proven time and again to be INDESTRUCTIBLE, even in hard core desert riding. I would pick the XC's for trail riding, but I have no experience with the XCR.
