question about choke plate removal on 400EX
#1
Guys,
I've been thinking about removing the choke plate on my gf's 400EX. From what I hear it makes it a little snappier in the mid & top.
I just got the K&N power kit for it so I have bigger main jets available, should I need them.
What about needle seating and/or pilot jet. Did you guys need to alter those? If so what is stock & what did you end up with?
I live in NW Ohio. The sea level is less then 1000ft I think.
Any other tips?

Andrew, I just removed the choke on my son's '02 400ex. I have a 40 and 42 pilot jet being shipped to try in place of the stock 38. I haven't tested it yet, but it already has a better throttle response! I will let you know how it runs when I try the bigger pilot jets.BTW, I also adjusted the throttle cable while I had the carb loose. It wasn't adjusted where it would fully open! That should make a big difference as well. I have a dynojet stage 2 kit 170main/k&n outerwear without lid and supertrapp Ids-2 slip-on.
