I might be buying a 2002 Honda Foreman Rubicon 500 off Craigslist. The guy wants $1000 for it. It needs a new seat and needs some carb work he says. Will somebody explain how the 4x4 works on this. He said it is "full time 4x4" What does that mean. How much will a new seat and carb cost and is it to risky. Please give me some advice on what to look at before buying it. Thanks!

 

I buy used all the time but one thing for sure is the machine better run right.
The old story "The carb just needs adjusting or cleaning" could be a cover story for a much bigger problem.
Honda did not have selectable 2wd/4wd until 2003. Only now in 2014 did they finally add diff lock to one of their 4x4 models.

A $1000 2wd 250 that runs great is worth more to me then a$1000 4wd 500 that can't get itself up the loading ramps into the box of the truck under it's own power.

To many good ones out there to bother looking at the bad ones.
