I posted how to test it last week on this forum, anyway here it is again.
If the fan is not working, remove the wire from the sender unit, probably under the crankcase at the back near the reverse cable lever, and earth it to the case (with ignition on), the fan should then run. If it does you either haven't had it hot enough or the sender is faulty. In theory you can check with the sender in hot water but I haven't had much luck with that. If the engine has overheated this could account for the blue smoke or, if you are lucky, it could just be caused by some faulty fuel.

Are you sure it is oil smoke? A stuck choke will make the machine puff smoke out at idle but this clears when the throttle is opened. The best way to tell is by the smell, that "two stroke" exhaust smell is oil, and an excessively rich mixture is distinctive too. If it is oil, and has happened suddenly, your machine may have partially seized and the rings stuck.

Are you sure it does not work?
My friend thought the same thing on his 2006 Foreman. The fan finally came on but it sure takes a hot day and a rough slugging trail ride for it to finally kick on.
Your temp light will never come on because the fan is just a assist feature for the oil cooler. The oil cooler still does its job even without the fan.
My 350 Big bear had a oil cooler and did not even have a fan option.
Does the Foreman have two fans ? Because if memory serves me right I think the 500 Foreman has two oil coolers.

Yes it is oil smoke. Although it seems to be slacking up, but last night I was running across the field about 18 mph in 4th gear and went to knocking and losing power and then died! I did not start it back up I just took off walking. I went back today and she started right up! And she don't smoke either. But I am going to make sure the fan works as it should here an a minute.
