400ex wont start blowing air out of the intake
I just bought a 01 400ex it wont start so I adjusted the valves cleaned the carb. When the carb was off and I was adjusting the valves I was turning it over and aair was blowing out of the intake as well as the exhaust the timing was checked I think It is correct I think the valves might be leaking? Im a two stroke guy this is my first four stoke any help would be greatly appreciated also is there suppose to be oil on the stator case?

well to start with the big problem. there shouldnt be ANY air blowing out...just in. so i would first check the timing with the help of a service manual. and how much is it blowing out? if alot, mabey a bent valve or two. if a little, then the cam wasnt neutral when you adjusted them. make sure the piston is at top dead center on the compression stroke.(on the side of the motor there is two screw in plugs. unscrew the smaller one(NOT the center one) and you will see a notch, line that up with the mark on the flywheel with a "T" that indicates TDC on the compression stroke) and the oil in the stator case, i belive there should be, but i havent payed that much attention when i worked on 400ex's, so not sure. i hope this helps. good luck!

So I pulled the valve cover off and noticed the cam chain was loose so I pulled off the clutch cover and noticed the chain came off the crank any suggestions on Which Cam chain to buy? and do I need a new tensioner? also the cam in my Honda has a 2 in the middle of it Does anybody Know what it means Is it stock or a stage 2
