Default 300ex clutch

I have a 01 300ex. Today I tried to adjust the clutch cable. When I leave about 3/8" of play in the clutch lever and put the quad in gear it does not move at all. If the clutch cable is adjusted so there is no play in the clutch lever the quad will move and shift ok. But when I put it into first gear it jumps foward alot. All of the clutch cable adjustments were done on the perch. Is this a sign that I need to replace my clutch? Thanks.

The 300 clutch is a weird animal. Mine always has a slight lurch when you went into 1st.

But...at nearly 10 years old, it is ready for a new clutch anyway!
