i have a 2000 350 es and have removed the front drive shaft after a little work. now there is a piece that connects the drive shaft to transmission that refuses to come off. i believe it just slides on but no mater how i pry and tap it refuses to move. the drive shaft end was rusty and dirty, looks like it could have used some service over the years, should have had a grease nipple installed. i presume the piece is full of dirt or rust or perhaps now missaligned on the shaft due to wear. any thoughts on this.
ok , checked with friend and it slid off. washed it out with brake cleaner, lubed it with wd40. put bar against bell of part and hammered it. twenty blows later it slid off, the only thing that was holding it was rust. this part failure was due to no lube. when i replace it , it will have a grease fitting. this design was programed for failure. anyone with this type of system should , remove and lube with proper grease.
I wouldn't spend much $ on this quad, the drive system was primative when i bought it new, features 3 wheel drive , and now it is 10 yrs old. wife used it at work and it was fair at its job. we dont use it much now, 0 miles last year and one trip this year. it serves for what we use it for. if we quaded like we used to this bike would not cut it even with wife riding it and she was better then 90% of riders of the time period. its in great shape, did rear bearings and all brake shoes two years ago.
