Default 02' 350 rancher electric shift problem

02' rancher will not shift. It all happened when it was put in gear rocked back in fourth while being trailered. It would shift up but not down. Someone keeping hitting buttons and now does nothing. I have replaced everything. Display does noy flash codes on 02 model. I have replaced range sensor, ecu, and shift buttons. I have tested the all componets, all are good. I was able to trouble shoot with honda manual. All wires omh out right and voltages are good. Im down to gear position switch i guess. Started removing rear cover and figured out engine needs to be removed. Any ideas? Think somethig is broken in gear case?

Default try a new battery

I had the same problem with my 02 Rancher and a new battery solved 99% of the shifting issues. I always had to rock the atv to shift gears if it was at a dead stop, especially if it was on the back of my truck. When my stock battery finally went, I got a new one this year and it hasn't missed a shift yet. I think a strong new battery is what the ES system likes best. Worth a shot and you should replace your battery if it is 7 years old anyway.

Well I got the rear cover off my foreman without pulling the engine. Does it show the gear it is in? If so it's not the gear selector. Have you checked the switches to see if they're working? Can you manually shift down to neutral, cut the switch off and on, then will it work?

I can go thru all the gears manually, the display shows that. I did try putting in nuetral and disconnecting battery. Still nothing. It doesnt even try to shift. I have checked the handle bar switches several times. I can manually jump the shift motor and it shifts. I have not tried to disconnect rear drive shaft. Will it come off, with out taking out engine? I already removed the alternator and starter. got to drive shaft and doesnt look friendly. thanks for the help.
