Default Angle Sensor Quesion for the Mechanics

I had my 06' Foreman ES lock up a time or two while running hard. I always let off to shift, but it was sticking in 3rd and flashing three times. Read online and first cleaned the plug and greased up w/ dielectric, I wasn't able to make it lock up again until I was heading back to the house. Now it does it in 4th and flashes three times! I took the angle sensor off today. Wondering if they can go out gradually or if the fail all at once. Also, can I grease the inside? Prolly not, but didn't know for sure. I will re grease the plug when I reinstall the new one, just didn't know for sure mine is bad. For $20 guess it's worth replacing. I still have warantee, so if it still messes up I'll take it in.
For the other ES owners, can you intentionally make yours fail, or lock up in a specific gear? Or if it clear my angle sensor is bad? Thanks guys

I'm kind of just a backyard variety wrench, but...

The resistance on the angle sensor pins for the yel/blu and grn/blu should vary smoothly as the angle sensor turns (4k-6k).

You can also do some checking on the wiring with an ohm meter. There should not be continuity between the blu/grn pin on the wiring harness and ground, or from the yel/blu pin and ground.

With the angle sensor plug off and the key on, you should have 4.7 to 5.3 volts on the blk/red wire.

Otherwise I think I'd have just replaced the angle sensor and see if that is the cure.
