Default honda 420es shift problem

I have a o7 honda 420es , it does not wont to go into reverse with the engine running. the code on the display is 51 can anyone tell me what it means. I just bought the bike, 80 hours on it. please help, I'M LOST!

Default honda420es shift problem

hey hondamechanic, im sorry, the N FOR THE NEUTRAL LIGHT blinks 5 times slow then once fast . I was assumeing it was a code. please inform me on how to read the error, because i dont know! also it seems that if i turn the key switch on it will go into rev, but if i start it and try to rev. this code comes up and it will not shift in any gear untill i cycle the key. your help is greatly appreaciated!

Bobby,
I had the same problem with my 420. All it needed was a quick clutch adjustment and it works great now.

bobby bonz again, honda 420 still not going into rev. I adjusted clutch per manuel. what is strange to me is that as long as the engine is not running it will shift into rev everytime, but if i start it , it will not shift and throw the fault code 41 it then will not go into any gear unless i cycle key and start over. can anyone tell me what the code means or give me anymore ideas. thanks BobbyBonz

Code #41 is gear position switch code ... Check the 8 pin (gray) coupler located on the right side of bike in front of the rear wheel ..
