I have an 02 Rancher 350es and just clicks when I try to start electrically. Sometimes it will start electrically when I rock it back and forth in gear then try again... lately that does not work. Starts fine with the rope.
I jumped the battery to the starter and it turns over fine. WIth that in mind, I replaced the solenoid, and it still clicks.... I then took the battery in and had it bench tested.. said it was "ok" but was loosing charge quickly... so replaced the battery and STILL clicks.
Next stop is the Starter? I am into this for about 150 now and still clicks. ;(
I'm no starter expert but it sounds like a dead spot in the starter motor. My old Chevy Impala used to do this. I rebuilt the starter and all was fine. Someone told me to tap on the starter while someone holds the key. It started. That was the giveaway that the starter was bad. Not sure if this relateds to ATV's. I'm just saying what I know.

This sounds similar to a problem I once had on an s-10 blazer, I replaced the battery, starter, and solenoid, and still the same problem. It turned out that it was the battery cables evem though they still looked brand new. Maybe look over the wireing and see if you notice any bare spots or corroision. Also if you can get a hold of a volt meter you can see how much power is getting to the starter, if the starter is getting approximitely the same voltage as the battery then you will know for sure the problem is with the starter/solenoid. Hope this helps.
your starter brushes are shot - get a replacement brush set - pull your starter motor - replace brushes - remember to disconnect battery
or get another cheap starter motor off of DB Electrical or somone like that
My Rubicon did the exact same thing. Turns out it was the starter. If you don't want to spend any more money on it right now, all you have to do is tap on the starter(what I did was kick it gently) and it should start about every time.
I don't know how much the brushes cost but the whole starter only cost about 70 or 80 bucks.
i got a 80cc moto 4 for my brother and it started clickings when i tryed to start it. now it just goes to start and acts like battery is dead, though i fully charged it. i took the plastic off and reconnected the battery and now i am not getting anything at all.any suggestions?
Bust out the volt meter and take a reading across the starter while you push the start button.
Get just a few volts? I'd suspect a cable.
Get full voltage? Problem in the starter.
You had may as well dissassemble it before you pay for a whole new starter. You will likely find it needs brushes and cleaned up.
Take your meter and take an ohm reading from each segment of the commutator. A few ohms would be normal. Make sure you don't have one way different, like a direct short or open.
