Default 1987 Honda 350 trx just dies on me

I have recently bought a 1987 Honda TRX350 4X4 and have put a few parts on it. The machine keeps dying on me when put in gear. The neutral light works the oil light works, then fan has turned on several times so I changed the three scensors near the right foot brake, but that has not fixed the problem. The machine runs great at idel reacts well to the throttle when pushed but dies sometimes right away when kicked into gear. And other times you can ride it around for a few minutes then it dies as if someone turned it off. I put it back in neutral then it will start right up again. There is no set pattern of when it will or will not allow you to put it into gear. (I also replaced the battery thinking that a week battery would affect the electric fuel pump)

Can anyone help me out Pleazzzzzzzzzzzzzzze....

Default 350 trx dies on me

I was up last night going throught the bike (1987 350 trx) 4 wheeler and there was good spark when i checked it. What i did do was go throught the wiring and found that when i wiggle the wires to the CDI it will idle rought and sometimes just die. I followed each wire to the end and tested it from the plug to each connector and the meter measures good. So this leads me to believe that it is the CDI... Do CDIs act like that, working sometimes and then not working???? I thought that once a componenet such as this is burnt then it is finished...

Fuel pumps and fuel pump relays are NOTORIOUS for going bad on this machine.

Default 1987 350 trx just dies on me

Hey all, knowsalot was right with the fuel issues it was the fuel relay. Funny thing was that i was checking wiring and thought i had diconnected the battery(not!!!!), guess what happened???? The relay wire had grounded out and fried the relay, there was smoke coming from it. I replaced that as well as the three switches near my right foot peg (neutral, oil temp, etc) and since then the machine has been running great. It would chug a little so i put in 97 octane fuel and 2 0z of stp injector/carb cleaner and all is good. I went out on the weekend and this machine is like a tank pushing through anything with alot of torque. Sorry for the late replies but my computer was down for a couple weeks.. Its all good now. See you on the trails, logging roads, wherever!!
