Im looking at a 03 honda 400ex. It has a k&n and dyno jet kit in it. What kind of power can I expect from it? Im aslo looking at a 660 raptor. I want to have no lack of power and good handling. I dont know anyting about either of these quads please help me out
thanks
Well, the 660 will have more power. Handling will probably go the the EX. You can always stick on a pipe and get more power out of both. The EX has a great power gain from a pipe and is know to be very reliable.

The 400ex will be far more reliable than the 660 Raptor. But the Raptor will have more power. When it's running that is. 660's are notorious for breaking down. I would like to know why the 400ex has a jet kit on it and no mods other than a K&N? If you do get the 400, the FIRST thing you need to do is get rid of the K&N and get a UNI filter instead.
honda is known for being very reliable. plus the 400ex has amazing handling and you really only need to add a few mods to be able to dominate a raptor. i say go with the 400ex. i would hate to see somebody move on to the yamaha side. good luck!
ok, why is it that I should get rid of the K&N?
and what benifit is it having the jet kit?
First, K&N filters pass small dirt particals, which inturn, go into your engine. I have heard this, and seen it first hand, that they aren't the greatest filter to put on.
Second, the jet kit is because when you do anything, i.e. put a filter on, mess with the filter cover, exhaust, etc, you have to rejet it so you are running at the right mixture. That is the reason there is a jet kit on with the filter. Without it, it would probably run rough.
Third, The 400ex has a lot of mods that you can do to it, which will make it go pretty fast. Also, the 400ex has better handling and in the long run, they are a very reliable machine that, with proper upkeep, will last forever!
If you are thinking about getting exhaust or new filter, remember that you have to rejet each time, so when you decide to do your mods, do them all at once so you don't have to keep rejetting it. If you decide to make the 400ex stock again, meaning stock filter, your going to have to rejet it to stock settings.
In my opinion, I would go with the 400ex, I have a 2007, and I have a lot of fun with it, and with some mods, it will be a quick machine! I hope I could help!!!
