400ex reverse limiter (box only option?)
I want to remove the rev limiter on my 05 400ex in reverse. Is there a way of doing this without a cdi box? Dont mind investing in one but have read they are useless. I wont be over reving it in 5th anyway but it starts hard now so I dont want to spend $60+ only to struggle starting it. Any clue? On my old z400 I rewired it and it worked fine. There has to be a way. If not someone recommend a cdi box that wont make starting ANY harder and eliminate the limiter? (Im not worried about what it will do to the top end because I only trail ride and rarely get much over 50-55.

You don't need a new cdi. here's how you do it.
Start by removing the hood. Locate your CDI box, one connector has 4 wires and the other connector has 2 wires. On the 4 wire connector you will have a Grey with Black stripe wire. Peel the tape back, if needed, and snip the Grey w/Black stripe wire. Leave enough wire just in case you want to resplice it back together at some point. Tape the ends of the wires so they won't touch each other or anything else.
Now you can start the quad in reverse and the reverse rev limiter is diabled. Your reverse light will still work. Biggest benefit is you CAN START IN REVERSE!
