Default Honda Recon Oil Cooler

I found one on eBay and read somewhere that the 2002 and newer recons come with them. What does the oil cooler do and would I be able to install it on my 2000 Recon??

A wast of time and money, the recon will never over heat and will run a million miles with or without one. Put the money in some tires or something that will make a worth while differance.

They act as a car radiator but for the oil. Oil from the crank leaves the motor via oils lines and passes through the oil cooler and then returns to the motor at a more cooled off temperature. Most are even fan assisted for even more air flow through them even if the ATV is not in motion to create air flow..

Handy for the 350 Rancher,400/450 or 500 Foreman which has two of them by the way. But the 250s really do not stress out on heat like the bigger bores do.

My Recon was a 99 or something like that, and I can't recall that it didn't have a cooler (????).

Anyway, you would need a new case so you could attach the fittings, and it just would never be worth the cost.

The are installed high and behind the protection of the front bumper. When installed right you should barley be able to see it.
