Default 200x

hi i have a 83 atc 200x that i am having a problem with. i bought it from a guy that said that it has had a big bore kit put in and it was hard to start well i got it to start on first kick everytime now, but now i am having a problem with it getting pretty hot after about 20 minutes of riding it. it does have a supertrap on it, i was just wondering would the supertrap make it run a little hotter then it normally would because it does have about 15 plates on it? if anyone could help me out with this it would help out alot.
thanks
josh

Your issue could be jetting related so check into that first of all. You could be running on the lean side.
But I would be more inclined to think that it's the big bore that is the cause of your overheating problem.
More discs on the exhaust actually make for a cooler exhaust system, not hotter, by the way.

The 185/200 series cylinders are very thin to begin with because the casting of the cylinder itself dates back to the early 1970s in 125cc form!!!!!

Stck bore on the 200X was 65mm. Which is pushing the limits,...stock.
Most bore kits are 66mm, but there are some out there as big as 67mm. The cylinder sleeve is paper thin at this point and having owned several bored and stroked 200s over the years, I can assure you, it WILL run hot without the use of an oil cooler and using quality oil. Also stay ontop of your oil changes twice as frequently as you normally would.

Honda cast larger cooling fins on the X cylinder, which is the only difference between it and the other 200 trike cylinders. It helps aid in cooling and does the job in stock form, but not when bored.

thanks for the info but i know its not the jetting that is the problem because that is perfect for this 200x. but what i did is i took out 5 of the disc and then the ones that are now on the supertrap now i took one of them and turned it the other direction and it run better and cooler then it did before.
