Default Rancher ES error codes

My Honda Rancher ES started flashing an error code after riding two to three miles in fifth gear. Once the error code starts flashing, the ES quits working. After shutting off the engine, waiting a couple of seconds, and restarting, it appears to reset and everything works correctly until a long two to three mile drive without shifting gears. The gear indicator flashes three times to indicate the error code.

I do not have a service manual and with poor internet service can not attempt to download a huge file. So I am asking for a quick diagnosis on this board. From reading previous posts I am guessing it has something to do with the angle sensor.

Thanks for any suggestions.

JC

Default Rancher ES error codes

Code #3 is "angle sensor system" Angle sensor (abnormally installed) or related wire harness or ECU .... I would first clean/grease the couplers for the ESP system ...
