Default 03 Rancher died on trail ride

Never had a problem with this atv. Rode .8 mile and she shut down. Started right back up. Idled fine. Soon as I hit 2nd she shut down again. Did this several times. I drained the carb thinking I had water in gas. It was clean. After about 7 or 8 times of same thing it quit for good. Had other people with me, so got pulled back to truck. Next morning while checking it out I replaced the plug and it fired right up and now runs fine.

I would have bet money on it being trash in carb. I would have been wrong. What makes it funny is my wife said the whole time it was the plug.

Lesson learned. I now have a spare plug on board.

I've not had that happen with mine but one thing I would recommend is taking loose all of your electrical connections and putting dielectric grease in the fittings, including your sparkplug boot.
