i'm new to four wheelers but not new to engines in general..it sounds like some how water is getting to your spark plugs...my cousin's polaris was doing the same thing, when he took it in to finally get it fixed they guys said that some how water got in the engine and was fouling out is spark plugs....

It's sucking it in from the airfilter. Your hitting it to hard and splashing it up into the intake. Check out your airbox for water and clean your filter and let it dry before oiling it.

sounds like you got alot of loose air box connections and or exhaust. i would tighten them up.

Your air comes form the top of your frame by the handle bars.

My buddy used to sit in 3 feet of water shut his wheeler off help me out and then start his 400ex right up and drive out no problems.

Recomend an outerwears prefilter helps water.not waterproof but water repellent.still helps but i dont think its your problem.I agree with most answers spark plug wires.I had my old 2001 ex in over three foot of water and barley made it but it still ran at the end of the day.Wouldnt recomend to anyone beat the sh*t out of her and it kep on ticken.BELIEVE IT OR NOT!

I am having this same problem. I didnt know it could be because of the spark plug but I did notice I had about 1/3 of an inch of water in my air box. It stalled for me...but after cranking it a bit with some dry air through the cycle it started up and took a bit before it ran stable.
