1.5 turns should be close enough. Any adjustment here will not be enough to be creating your problem. You can always adjust from there but likely outward and not more than 1/2 turn or so.

Did you make sure that fuel running from the tank is good enough? Did you make sure the screen at the shut off is clear? Did you try to run it with the gas cap off in case it is not venting properly?

In my opinion, if you're 13 and have only been riding 2 months, it's not time for you to move up to a real sport quad yet. That's why there are so many atv-related deaths in the news all the time. But it's also not worthwhile to mod the 250, there's too many bottlenecks in the design.

In reference to: (Did you make sure that fuel running from the tank is good enough? Did you make sure the screen at the shut off is clear? Did you try to run it with the gas cap off in case it is not venting properly? )

I get a good flow of gas when I open the drain screw at the bottom of the carb. so I'm thinking there's no clog on the filter or the line. The gas is brand new, high octane.

I'm heading out now to tear it apart again and hope to have better luck this go around.
Thanks!!

wigglez1014 its thoughts like that can kill you.im 16 and been riding a 300ex for a year and a half now. im not thinking about going up for maybe a year. a 300 is will be to powerful for you a 400 is way too much for a person with that low level of skill. first hard lauch and your back is on the ground and the quad is 50ft infront of you. by my guess by all the 13 yearolds by me you are only 100lbs im 205lbs and my 300 is more power then i can control.had to adjust my clutch to weakin the lauch. a 250ex has about 18hp 300ex have about 28hp 400ex have about 39hp 450r about 49hp. you will be going up 20 or more horsepower and im having a hard time with less then 30.but after all my ride time i have better control of my ride.

what makes 250ex feel weaker then they realy are is the fact that its a semiauto not a full manual.

Those are the most bogus hp numbers I ever saw. Stock 250ex is 12 hp, stock 300 is 15-17, stock 400 is around 22.

My son is 16 and is still riding his 300. He has not tapped it out yet and I agree with the others - stay away from the 400 for now.

i just cheacked the charts again stock 250ex is about 15hp stock 300ex is about 21hp stock 400ex is about 30hp
you were close on the 250ex nowhere near on the 300ex or 400ex. i had my 300 dynoed and it did between 25-26
its not stock but its far from beating 400s.so i guess what had was the highest possible hp rates sorry they were off by 3-9 hp
