Default hrc kit, or pipe???

Heres the deal, im buying both of these things on my own, and im 14 years old so you could emagine that i dont have a lot of money. What should i get first the hrc kit for my 450r, or should i just get a good exaust for my 450?

Thanks

The HRC kit has an endcap so you can uncork the exhaust. It flows pretty free, so do that first and get the aftermarket exhaust later.

When I put my FMF Factory 4 system on, the jetting changes were minimal, so that tells me that the uncorked stocker flows pretty good.

I recommend the 2" end cap, from ebay. The hrc cap is 1.75". I would also recommend the hotcam stage 2, these 2 parts together will be about $150, the get a few jets for 20 bucks. The hrc kit is 300? so you can equal it for about half price.

Yep i have to agree,You can do all the HRC stuff for cheap or free...Lets take a look

Hotcam $120
cut air box Free
cut the air box snorkle free
Drill out crank case T free
Main jet $7
HRC Needle $35

You can do all the stuff you get with the HRC kit,and have enough $$$$ left over to get a DrD slip on

ok, are you guys talking about the 05, or 06? is it cheaper to peice it together yourself for the 06's too, cant find the 06HRC kit on the honda site but I seen once it was 350, I thought Id seen a pic where it actually came with a new header pipe, not sure though. the exhaust I want is more than the whole kit from honda, LRD pro 4. is it a way better system than the hondas HRC part? also does the dealer have to install the kit to not void the warranty?

I have the HRC kit and it comes with

Head pipe

sub harness for CDI

end cap

Cam

jets main,pilot,and bypass jet

needle

I would buy the hrc kit before I buy a pipe or buy parts off ebay You can get the kit for 299.00 And its worth every penny Also the HRC endcap is not very loud so you can ride in more places without drawing attention to your self And it wont void your warranty

IMO, the needle in the carb is a big deal when rejetting. If I were going to do an aftermarket exhaust, I would go with a Dynojet kit. I rejetted my Raptor and 3 Hondas and never understood on the fuss about jetting properly. I've come to realize most people who have trouble jetting are messing around with a few factory jets. I would plan on spending about $50 on a jet kit too.

I have an '04 450R
I bought the 2" end cap on ebay and it came with the main and needle jets and all instructions, it was $45.00.
I picked up a Hotcam stage 2 for $100.00.
After installing these I had basically the HRC kit and it only cost me $145.00
I have now gone to an FMF Q2 slip on and UNI filter.
For the '04 or '05 I'd say definately do it yourself with a slip on AND a cam. You can do it for not much more than the HRC kit.

As for the 06 HRC kit, I haven't yet seen a pipe builder that has improved much on the 06 stock pipe with HRC kit. The '06 kit is a pretty good value actually.

As for the '04-'05 kit, a hot cam and a slip on won't be too bad of a deal but you will likely pay more going that direction.

Remember one thing though, aftermarket items are not always better than stock/OEM stuff. Don't have any big expectations about aftermarket items' reliability over stock.

The dealer does need to install the HRC kits to keep the full warrantee. This is in respect to the things on your bike that are effected by the items in the HRC kit. Your bike will still keep it's warrantee on the things that are not related to your HRC kit when you install it.
