I own a 2004 Honda Recon ES that has low hours. For the first time the other day I went out to ride it and after starting the engine, the #1 shift light blinked 3 times and would not go into gear. I restarted the engine and it went into gear fine. I decided to disconnect the battery and clean the connections. Now sometimes after starting the engine the #1 shift light blinks 8 or 9 times. Also sometimes the ATV does not want to shift to #2 (second gear) Most of the time this machine shifts and works fine. I think the ECM needs to be reset. If anyone knows the proper steps on how to reset the ECM please let me know.
