Default 300ex cams- what are you using other than stock?

I've searched this morning only to not find a whole lot on here as to what you guys are actually using. (other than stock that is) Our 300 has the blue smoke blues and it appears a rebuild is in the near future. I would like to up the cam if possible. Having said that, it appears that web cams and megacycle cams are about the only choices. SO, who is running a web cam, what grind is it, and do you like/ dislike it?
Also, who is using a megacycle cam? What grind, and likes/ dislikes?

The worst thing I can see about all of this is having to change cam (110), valve springs (140) and rocker arms (50 sumthing ea). I'm looking at 350+ just to change the cam. Is it worth it?

We have 2 different Web cams for our 300ex. My wife races it flat-track. I can't think of the model #'s but it is the second and 3rd in the listing of the 4. We use the tamer one for the shorter tracks. It is a really good cam. I say it is completely worth the $350 if you want the 300ex to run.

I've printed out the specs for the Web and Megacyle cams and it appears theat the 3rd Web cam (grind #254) is about the same as the first Megacycle cam. The specs for the lift and duration is a little different, and I know this makes a huge difference, but the Megacycle cam is described as a good overall cam. While the Web cam is described as a racing cam. I'm looking for GOOD overall power for trail rider that might do some racing.

I just went to the "WEB" site. If you get one of thier cams get the 240. It will be alot better than the 254 for all around riding. If you are just racing gravel roads or open fields the 254 would be great but the power drops below, I guess 5,000 RPMs. If you can keep it revving then the 254 will haul azz.

Well, we got the motor tore down last night and low and behold it already had the little web cam in it. The rings were shot and the worst problem we found was the rod is loose on the crank. So, I geuss instead up putting a bigger cam and all into it, we are going to put the money into a new rod. A friend of ours has given us a 250x piston that is the right bore for ours. It is a 11:1 for the 250, which turns into about a 12:1 for our 300. This, along with the smaller cam, is the way I plan on putting it back together. Do you think the compression will be allright for the starter? (I mean, will the starter actually turn the motor over enough to start it?) Will the cam be enough for the compression? Will this make good power for trail riding and some light racing?
Thanks!!

I know guys that are above 12:1 compression. They will still start with the starter. I have seen the "one way bearing" or starter clutch fail with higher compression. It won't just dump over night but, with time it may fail.
