I have come up with several simple yet effective ways to remove them on my Rincon. I found that rolling it sideways down a steep hillside worked well. The hillside must of course be covered in very thick brush so as not to gain too much speed. Just a few slow gentle rolls and shazamm, they're out. Another slick trick is to scrunch your fenders up against trees & stuff like that. pulls them babies out like magic.

You know....THAT is why I posted the question.....I knew that someone would have THE answer that would just make me sit back and say "Now why didn't <u>I</u> think of that!"
Better yet, we could take a 4 ft long treated 4x4 post and wittle one end down to about the size of a baseball bat handle. Then we would have a portable post so that you could work on your quad wherever you are(like at the dunes). We could market them nationally and make a fortune!!
Not to rain on anybody's parade, but the Yamaha clips are less expensive than Honda's - and they are the same exact thing. $0.21 vs. $0.47 each from the dealer. Maybe you don't want a Hondaha, but a lot of Honda owner's leave my shop without knowing the difference - other than they've saved a couple of bucks [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]
As far as removing the clips - I use a $4.99 CV joint boot clamp tool from Autozone - it has flat jaws that fit behind the head of the clip and then just pivot the pin out - for the tough to reach clips, I use a pair of diagonal wire cutters.
dude, flat head screwdriver and some finger strength. that's all u need. i removed the plastic on my beat-to-crap 400EX plastic easily 100 times in about 6 months or less, and I never ruined one, and they never gave me a problem. way too much thought has been put into this post. although, i do kind like the "roll it down a hill" idea.
Honda takes the cake for plastic trim clips. It wouldn't bother me except between the bikes and ATV's they must use 8 different kinds. As far as the ones they use to hold the mudflaps on ATV fenders, they are about as easy reusable as it gets. I (like some others mentioned here) use two screwdrivers to pop the center up, and a sidecutters to leverage them out. When they get all grody with sand and pooh, which makes them kinda stubborn to deal with, I use silicone spray and a little compressed air. It makes them work really easy again.
there has to be something somewhere to replace these thigns with something else... i think i am going to spend some time at the local hardware store to see if i can find a suitable replacement....
