Honda taking oil!
I've noticed that my 1985 Big Red 250 is taking oil. I filled it up before a poker derby, then at the end of the day (after LOTS of mudding) I drove about 6 hours straight and on the dipstick it was half full from the mark. I'm running 10-40 oil. Is it because it was revving alot due to the mud bogging, what do you think. A guy who fixes three wheelers drove my big red and he said he has never driven one that is so strong, he would trust it to drive to Alberta (from manitoba) The carb is perfectly clean, it idles nice, new spark plug, what could it be? Is it normal for them to use oil?
thank you

Well an engine an engine so it doesn't matter if its got 3 or 4 wheels. It shouldn't be from high rpm's cause I really rev my recon high and I never have to add oil. Do you notice any blue smoke when your running it or smell oil. You may need new rings and seals it its burning oil or yo could have a leak somewheres. Also are you sure that it was on level ground and you gave it time for the oil to drain back down before you checked it?

Please by all means do not laugh at me. I cheched it when it was all clean and there was a leak where three hoses come together and form a sort of T. I'll check it out a little lmore next time I change oil. I don't want oil all over when I unhook the hoses. Boy was I ever hapy when I found it...meaning I wasn't burning oil at least!
