My neihbor has been pondering about getting this kit (we know a company that still produces these kits in northern, WA *forgot the name*) he is going to stretch it more and make it a drag bike cause he wants to shed some more weight (even though he WASTES almost all bikes with his alky 310) Well, the more he talked about it, the more i wanted it!

I've seen two on ebay, and if no one has seen one before.... theres one still for sale 250r w/ Missile kit It looks sweet and would turn on a dime like dirtbikes on trails and stuff, but also feel stable (kind of) like a 3 wheeler or whatever, i think it would be fun with a 330 pv motor and an ESR atc pipe.. What do you guys think? and does any one know the website for the company in northern, wa that sells them?

Similar to one of those big wheel bikes.

You could make a fast fast bike out of one of those..

 

smok3d - didnt the original "missiles" have a cr500 motor in them? that would make a true missile.

 

I'm not sure if they had a CR 500 motor in them, i can't find any history about them at all (any would be greatly appreciated) But if you want a "true" missile, go to Mac Racing where they take a 1995 CR500 jug and slap it on a 250r bottom end, =D 500r that is counterbalanced.. in some of their pics they have it's drag racing Geng Green (MP racing built Polonda on NOS) and is probably 4-5 bike lengths ahead

 

Ive seen that thing and all I can say is wow. Ive seen one of those polonda bikes run at sandlake and it did not really impress me that much. Sure it was fast but not what I expected. If I find out any info I ll post it for ya.

 

I still have some old magazines from the 80s where dirtwheels or some other mag, tested a missle or did a shootout between it and a trx250r and an atc 250r.

 

lets hear more on the TRX250R vs 250R ATC article. their are advantages i see to both sides in IMO id just own them both if i had the cash.

 

These bikes were built by the guys at Fullbore Innovations near Portland. I saw my first one in 1999 at Discovery Pointe in Winchester Bay Ore and their own DID have a CR500 engine in it.

It was the usual magazine treatment, they do a shoot out, have test riders comment and in the end they tell you they are all good and it depends on your personal preferences.

One rider liked the trx best, one like the atc best and one liked the missle best, go figure.

Personaly, I like the trx for high speed and jumping but there is something about the atc's handling that the trx can't match. Like when you go up the side of a hill at low speed and just beam it down, the trx seems to get hung up. Or speeding through tight, snaking, soft sand, trails. The trx kinds drags or plows the front tires and get caught on trees where the atc just steers right through.

My wife has an atc 125m and she kills me in the woods.
