The clutch is pressed onto the tapered end of the crank shaft. A special clutch puller is needed to remove the clutch. You can get one through a J.D. dealer. Well worth owning .
You can inspect and clean the clutch by removing the screws in the cover.
Best way to clean is just use an air gun and blow it out good.
Check play in the weights and bushing. DO NOT grease or spray any type of oil in or on the clutch. You can if you want use brake clean and then blow out good with air.
