Default Tire recommendation

Hello,

I have a 2006 Honda 400ex that will need tires soon - especially the rear tires. The stock tires are OHTSU. I am a beginning rider, and my useage will be trail riding. I don't expect to need anything too extreme in terms of traction, but would like a tire that will give good service life.

I see there are a lot of choices out there, so I would like your recommendations for a cost-effective all-terrain tire. Or perhaps I would be best served by simply replacing the stock tires with the same type?

Any advice is appreciated.

Doug

I have Kenda Bear Claws on my 08 Arctic Cat 650 H1. I love those tires!!! It came with Goodyear's but the Kendas ride good on pavement, trails and are good in the mud. I mostly ride dirt roads and trails. I have 1285 miles on the Kendas and they look almost new. They are a 6 ply tire. Cost about $250 +/- for a set according to where you buy them. I hope this helps. Go with Maxxis Razr 6 ply. Best bang for the buck tire. They are very capable in a wide variety of conditions and are long wearing as well.
