powdercoating a master cylinder

I am rebuilding my master cylinder and I really dont want to spray bomb it. I have all the stuff to powder coat and I have done it before. I dont know about the fluid level glass. The guy at the local shop told me the glass is tempered and the heat shouldnt hurt it. Is that true?

Also me and the sales guy started talking about powder coating and he wanted to know how much I would charge to coat stuff for him. I am in the dark about what to charge for something like that. I figure I will have to sandblast the part, clean it thoroughly, coat it and bake it. What would you guys say a good price would be to coat a swing arm?

Hmmm..I have no experience with this. But normaly how I figure what to charge ppl for doing odd jobs is: cost of all materials involved + $9 - $10 / hour depanding on how labor intensive it is maybe $15/hour. If you know approximately how long it going to take u from start to finish, you can give a pretty good estimate.

Srry, dont know anything about the heat thing and the tempered glass.

Thats what I was thinking. Most of this stuff I would do I could knock out in about an hour or 2 not counting the time in the oven. I was thinking about 20 or 30 plus materials to do a swing arm.

Custom Powder Coating

That is a sample charge of what a powdercoating shop is charging for some items. It was the first page I looked at, just to give you an idea of what others are charging. Not saying you should charge that but just to give you an idea

thats a little more than what I was going to charge, but I guess materials are included so its most likley less overall.

Another thing to consider, is the good ol' buddy form of payment, and only charge him for materials. This works out in both your favors. Who knows he might be able to get u a seriously killer deal sometime on somthing u want someday.
