I noticed the other day on my 2003 BB that the driveshaft boot is ripped, I'm getting ready to tear into it and am unsure where to start. Once I move the boot forward will I need to disconnect the universal joint, remove the swingarm pivot bolt and slide the swingarm back to slip in the new boot? If anyone has been there before please shed some light before I screw something up! Thanks...

Hello,

Hello,

I just recently bought a 1989 Warrior. Please read all the items below as I have had several unrelated problems, and I am trying to figure the final problem out!

First couple of hours riding were OK.

Then, the quad would cut out with just a little bit of throttle. I SOLVED this, and fixed it by disabling the parking brake.

After this, the quad started knocking something fierce. Also, the engine would not rev completely out. It revved MUCH higher than with the parking brake problem, but it lost power at high rpm's I just figured it was noisy valves!

Well, last night, I decided to check the valve clearance. Intake valve had a MAJOR issue: the locknut for the valve tappet came off! I found the nut down in the head, but it did not look like it did any damage. I corrected the clearance this evening, and loctite-ed the threads so it will not happen again.

However... I still have some sputtering and very high rev's. Anyone have any idea what it could be?

Tomorrow night is dedicated to cleaning the carb, so maybe that will fix it.

I appreciate any ideas!

Thanks,

Anyone have these on thier Raptor 700? I picked up a set on Ebay. I think it is missing some hardware. Is there a spacer where the clamp bolts up to the frame for the cannisters/muffler on the end?

Also going to get a Power Commander III soon for it. Any advice where I can download map settings for this setup?

I can't wait to put these on.. I pray this and a PCIII will wake up the laggy bottom end.

Hey I'm gonna order a new battery for my warrior and wondered what kind I should get. I had a parts unlimited cheaper one that lasted like a year- got it for around $40. Im lookin at the sealed batteries/ maintinance free that are 100$.- Is there a real advantage? I know at work my boss has a few new kawasaki prairies that he hardley maintains and they start up everyday, while on the other hand my warrior had battery problems after bearly a year. What should I go with? thanks

My son bought a used 450. Ran great for about 4 months but then jumped timing. Piston took out all three intake valves and cracked the valve guides. Cam shaft bearing surfaces look to be a little scratched up and discolored. My question would be is this a common failure for this machine and is there anything I can do to prevent if from happening again. Thanks in advance for any words of wisdom ;)

Hello All,

Hello All,

I posted a few months ago in the "buying an atv forum" about buying the Yamaha 700 or the Sportsman 850 XP. I figured I would wait a little while longer and buy an 09 and get a much better price with the 2010 models sitting on the floor also. From the advice that was posted it seems that the 850 Xp got the nod.

http://forums.atvconnection.com/buyi...izz-700-a.html

Well, I think that I am going to pull the trigger this week on making a purchase. But after continusly looking at the the yama & polaris forums, I think that the known defects, recalls, and problems w/ the xp's that I am going to buy the 700 special edition. (I just want to basic trail ride, and don't need any issues)

I just have a 3 questions for everyone.

#1 Are there any known defects/problems with the 700.

#2 Is everyone happy with the performance of their machine.

#3 What price would be considered a good deal for the 2009 700.

I appreciate any feedback that you all might have. Hopefully this coming week I will be a proud owner of a new ATV.

Thank you in advance,

Jeff
