at 1st I thought it was just a stumble in mid rpms. but I found it to be all over.

decided to try the vforce reeds and 26mm mikuni round slide before buying a set of boyesen reeds for it and I noticed the stumble... played with jetting rich and lean, didn't seem to help.

so I decided to put the stocker back on, the stumble was still there.. then I decide to play with jetting, didn't help rich and lean...

changed plugs. didn't help.

noticed head gasket looked like it had a slight leak so I changed it.

thought maybe the crank seal so I pulled the fan cover then fan and didn't see fluid and looked to make sure timing was still aligned on the stator and it was...

thinking tomorrow I'll ohm the stator and try a different coil... then soapy water and look for a bottom end leak somewhere...

I have a milled head on it mid west mini speed/power package less the reeds as I had the 26mm mikuni on it when I bought the bike..

also will be checking the tranny fluid but I think its the engine stumbling not just tranny area. I did bake it in my grill and have fluid come out and forgot to fill it... we'll see, lots of things to check from lol

could potentially be a long day tomorrow...

also what kind of fluid do you guys use for the rear gearing standard gear oil? I can't find my service/repair manual :(

can't wait to get it all dialed in again... seemed like it was pulling like a mofo with the vforce and 26mm carb on it. lifted up the nose like nothing... ordered a 14t yz80/rm80/85 countershaft sprocket as well so it'll have better top speed when it's running good lol.

will also be looking at getting some porting and raising the stall when it's running top shape :D oh, and narrower tires like some 18x6.5" snow hogs front and rear and see if she rips more (less rotational mass than these 10.5" wide rear tires I have on it now). get a set of 16.5x6.5"s for the track too while I'm at it, or maybe just get the 18"s for front and 16.5"s for rear... but I want to get the issues all worked out and get her screaming again

OK I dropped on a new jug, piston, rings, bearing seals etc (all OEM Suzuki from oempartsource on...

OK I dropped on a new jug, piston, rings, bearing seals etc (all OEM Suzuki from oempartsource on ebay) I'm getting like 145psi plus compression now. I cleaned out the carb again since it was off and noticed a few odd things.

1. Needle was set on the leanest setting and the tip was broke off?
2. The float valve had a nice lip around the pointy end
3. The main jet was a 90 and my book says it should be a 92.5
4. There was no "cap" over the main jet like the book calls for

Bike runs good at idle but kind of crappy midrange and then seems to run decent at full throttle. (this makes it real hard to break it in easy) The bike only runs decent with the air filter tube off of the carb. Makes me think it is running rich ? ?

So I ordered a Moose Carb rebuild kit for my 1994 LT80 and it came with a new needle, main jet at 92.5 new o-rings and gaskets, float valve etc. It had two little o-rings in the kit I was not 100% sure where they went. The slightly larger of the two went on the idle set screw along with the spring and a tiny silver washer. In this order Screw -spring -washer - oring. There was another small o-ring that I put under the main jet I. I reset the needle back to the second from the top knotch and and put everything back together and fired her back up. This time the bike needed a little choke to start up but idled fine after an idle screw adjustment. I put the air cleaner tube back on the throat of the carb and now it feels like it is having trouble runnning again. I'm going to look at the filter and see if it is clogged but can anyone else shed any light on things that I should be checking. I've rebuilt plenty of carbs from boats, to lawnmowers to motorcycles to Ourboards motors. I've got the oil pump disconnected on this machine and run 40:1 mix gas in her. Any ideas why the differences in jet sizes. My book says the carb should be a Mikuni 40B00. It says Mikuni but the stamp says 40B with 10 underneath it. Also my book says to remove the air jets on the front of the carb? How do you get those things out of there? I cleaned this carb in a L&R Ultrasonic heated ultrasonic cleaner with Omegasonic carb cleaner and blew it out with 120psi compressed air. I also probed the air jets with a soft copper wire to loosen any gunk. I'm still going to try a few things but I'm looking for some suggestions here guys, I'm getting a little frustrated and you all have steered me right this far . . .Got to get to bed, hope tomorrow is a better day.

Hi,

So, I took the carb off the LT80 over the weekend and gave it a cleaning.

Now that I've reassembled, it starts fine. It seems to idle a bit high, and then when you give it gas, it revs up and goes, but then the idle seems to stick - when you step on the brakes, it finally comes back to down to idle.

The throttle cable seems to be fine - the spring seems to be forcing the thumb throttle back, so I'm not sure why it would stick open like that.

Suggestions on what I should be looking at?

Grant

what is it? E-ton 90?

I recently bought what I was told was an E-ton 90 to teach the kids on. Since have bought a Yamaha 4-zinger 60 because the "90" seems a little big. Actually, it seems a lot big. Guy told me it was approximately a 1990, 90 cc E-ton. But he didnt know anything about it, bought it at an estate sale or soemthing. He said he shifted the plastics around and bolted them down to make them fit better, but they still look too small. I thought maybe the plastics came from a smaller E-ton? It does say E-ton on the plastics, but they dont come anywhere near extending over the rear tires, unless there should be additional flares or something on the back? No manufacturers name or model I can find anywhere. I coldn't even find any pictures to compare, but now that I think about it I'm going to try another place to look for comparison pics.

Never had one, but I am amazed at what this thing will do. WIth a 50lb kid on the front, 235 lb dad on the back, manual thottle adjustment almost all the way in, and in first gear, this thing feels incredibly strong. To the point where I question if it might be something bigger, like a 125? Where can I look for engine cc or manufacturer stuff? I did find a VIN on the front frame crossbar. This machine has a 3 speed semi-auto, reverse which works off a pull switch and heel shift. And it's a 4 stroke.

It doesn't look that great, the plastic was blueish-purple but some kid painted it black, which is starting to come off. But it starts, runs and drive just incredible, and once Iget the older kid up to speed, it should take a long time for them to outgrow it. Which is a concern about getting a tiny machine.

My 9 year old currently has a Badger 80 (yea I know she is supposed to be 12 to ride it). The trails she rides on are really rocky (Uwharrie in NC). She gets beat up pretty good due to the stiff suspension with limited travel. I llke the Badger as it is bulletproof and has gears (a skill I want her to retain). It has an aftermarket skid plate but ground clearance can be a problem there. Having more power is not a priority. Would a TRX90 be an upgrade or a horizontal move? It seems I could change out the shocks for more travel and softer springs. Any thoughts?

I am in need of a cylinder kit for Unison 90 Desert Cat, wondering if anybody can recommend a source? OR, I did find a cylinder kit for Predator 90's on ebay, out of Canada, for about $80 and have read Unison and Predator 90's are the same and wondering if anybody can confirm that before I order.

The only other option I could locate specifically for the Unison was a big bore kit at Lakes Motorsports for about $160. Wondering if anybody has experience with that. I believe I would have to rejet the carb but wondering if its worth it. Hesitant to make any changes that would degrade reliability.

Hi - ok, so I'm getting a chance to look at my kids' LT80 this weekend. The carb needs cleaned badly - it's having the same issue as many have noted (i.e. doesn't run properly w/o the choke on, revs high with the choke on).

So, having done a bunch of reading first, I go to look at the carb to take it off - I'm anticipating an 8mm bolt - low and behold, I have 4 phillips-head screws holding mine on. Now, the 2 on the top are easy to get at, but, I'm not even sure how to get at the ones on the bottom - that's a tight space!

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

We have loved this quad have not not done any mods to it. We clean the air filter every once in awhile and put gas and oil in it and the kids just ride it all day.

Then this spring, it slowly started loosing power until it just does not want to rev up enough to move it.

When you give it gas it just sounds like it is bogged down.

I have put a new spark plug. I pulled the carb, disassembled it, cleaned it all, blew all orifices with compressed air, and put it back together. Fresh cleaned air filter. Still runs the same after all this.

It does have the electric choke on it. Do these stick in the on position? I unplugged the choke and it still runs the same.

Any ideas? We have our next outing planned for labor day weekend and the kids will be unhappy without it working :(

Thanks!
