Default Maxxis Bighorns good in the mud?

Hey all. I was at the local dealer yesterday and he had a set off Bighorns on Polaris Bruiser rims. They look aggressive enough for mud but I was wondering if anyone has gone through the thick and goopy stuff with them and what people thought of them mudwise? He wanted $750 for them before taxes here in Taxachusetts.

I have head that they are better then stock tires in the mud but they are not a mud tires. They are prolly along the lines of mudlites maybe better, in the mud. They diff better on rocks and trails.

Thanks. I think I'm going to save my pennies and wait til I have enough to get Mudlite XTRs.

Good all around tire but the lugs are not far enough apart to clean well for mud.

Look at the ITP XTR - still smooth but much better in the mud.

Yeah, Weedy, I've talked to a lot of guys who have the XTRs and they rave about them. I thought the Bighorns looked like they had enough of a void between the lugs but after looking at the XTRs up close I have to give the nod to them.

I have the Duro Powergrips / Bighorn knock off. They clean pretty good in the muck! The do well in the mud and I been through the same stuff guys with XTR's have... Are they Mud tires, nope, but are they good enough for me, Yup.

I personally stay away from ITP tires as I'd say 90% of the guys that I ride with that have them also have at least 1 plug PER tire! Not good odds if you ask me... You should look into the Maxxis Zillas (not MudZilla - just Zilla)

They are cheaper than the XTR's and probably better.

I was in a sick mud hole this past weekend and my duro powergrips did just fine, IE no winching needed! I will be getting the video of that soon, I'll post it up!

Not a bad looking tire, Steve. I saw the Mudzillas. Those look kind of cool too. Any misgivings about them?
