Need some help on a Lifan 250cc. Is there supposed to be oil in the stator compartment?

I have replaced all electrics with new. Got it started and went for a ride. Went to take it for a ride in the afternoon and it wouldnt start. I have no voltage to the coil. I wondering if the oil has screwed up the stator.

Hi chookenman; For what it's worth, my 250cc Zongshen has oil in stator area and I have voltage to coil and spark. Problem is , I can't get it running because the engine seems to kickback if I touch the throttle and it destroys my starters. I also would like to know if the oil is supposed to be there. Maybe it's causing issues with improper timing i don't know. Not sure why your not getting that voltage now. Check all those cdi wires are connected proper especially the ground wire. Good luck.

 

CB, i got to thinking about your starter issues. have you tested the starters outside of the engine? i'm wondering if they don't kick back out of the way and just stay engaged when the engine finally runs and then "over revs" the starter thus stripping out the gears cause the starter ain't disengaging. what do you think about that scenario?
