Default 90cc vacuum leak????

Am trying to get a 90cc Chinese quad running for my daughter that had sat for a couple of yrs before I got. I soaked the carb after which it would run wide open but not idle. After cleaning out stopped up idle jet it now idles great bit is flooding out and smoking when I try to accelerate. After trying to adjust air mix and checking float level with no luck I removed the air snorkel and it revs wide open but doesn't want to idle down. Even if it is running wide open and you slowly hook air intake back up it starts loading up. Could this be the result of an air/vacuum leK between card and motor? Please help! Trying to get running as a Christmas present.

Spray some carb cleaner around the base where the carb mounts to the plastic intake. Usually you will get a small leak in their around the o ring. Take the carb off and use some read rtv silicon and coat the surface leaving the o ring in place. Let it cure fully. Also make sure you put the slide/needle in in the right direction its easy to get it 180 degrees out. then put your air/idle and mixture screws back to a factory setting and tune from their.

Nothing with spraying carb and slide us in correct. Rethinking that it's not a vacuum leak as that would run it lean and I running rich??????
Ordered new carb as Christmas is too close. Hopefully that will cure it.
While waiting on new carb to arrive I am going to try and lean out usng adjustment on slide.

vacuum leak will cause all kinds of strange issues.. even when you get the new carb rtv the same spot. Did you check the slide? I thought i had mine in right 3 times before i realized that it was not going all the way to the bottom.

Slide is in right. Yeah they can be tough and have put it in wrong before. I tried leaning out the slide needle and seemed to help but before I could really play with adjustments the battery died from being cranked so many times. If I can't get it tuned good I will use sealant on new carb. Thanks for help.
