Hensim 150cc Starter problems
I got a used Hensim 2006 HS150ATV . I found that the starter was bad. I pulled the starter and manually turned the internal gear through the starter hole. I believe that the starter clutch is bad as well. Or does it need the speed of a good starter to engage the starter clutch. If I lean on the kick start lever while manually turning the gear through the starter hole the kick lever will slowly drop with each turn. not sure what to diagnose here.

How do you know the starter was bad?
I've never tried your test with the finger in hole turning the clutch. I don't know the answer to your question. Did you try to turn the starter clutch both ways? It is supposed to engage one way and free wheel the other way. But at finger speeds? I don't know. Does anyone else know?

The starter magnet was all broken inside and the starter was locked up. I have fingered many holes LOL . the starter hole exposes the gear that the starter shaft meets. when I turn that gear it free wheels one way and turns slightly hard the other. So I opened the starter and gutted it leaving the starter shaft. I then welded a bolt to the starter shaft and installed the starter. I hooked my drill to the starter and It doesnt feel like the starter clutch engages. I get no compression. The bike does run and can start it with a drill from the fan side . But I would really like to get my electric start operational again
