I would like to get a new atv but dont want to play the large price of a brand name atv. I was thinking a 250 cc atv but what would be a good brand. Also where would i get one? Would i have to order it off of the internet or is there a dealership near buffalo ny?

Jetmoto and v bike seem to get the nod for being the best in the chinese atv, there are dealers around you need to find them. look in your local paper,craigs list (your area) if there is not one you can order online and assemble it yourself, there are lots of tips here for doing that. do you plan on beating the or taking it easy on it? I suggest if you plan on beating the crap out of it the thing might not hold up real well then you might be better off looking used japenese quad.
There ia a dealer of Chinese quads in Bergen, NY. Can't remember the name, but he advertises on the Rochester craigslist all the time. If you plan much more than some backyard cruising, I would recommend looking to get a used major brans as well, with Honda and Suzuki both having good options in that class. Usually the big fours 250 class quads are among the most dependable of them all.
I bought a Jetmoto 150 and 200 two years ago and haven ridden them quite a bit. They are great when they run but always seem to have something going wrong that needs a small tweak or a part here and there. I have not owned a big four quad but it just seems like the things that plague the jetmoto would not happen nearly as often. If at all possible I'd take the extra time and look for a used big four quad in well kept shape. The economy sucks and these toys will go before empty plates at the table. I would not be surprised if you find a clean but old one for the same price as a chinese quad.
Parts and service can be a huge thing no matter if you take it to the shop or fix it yourself. EVERY time I go into a shop and look for parts it is a hassle since no one inventories chinese quad parts or even knows the brand. The only place for sure is the distributor or the dealer you got it from. The big problem here is if you need parts while on a trip, you are likely screwed unless it is a swappable part like chains, filters, etc. I could not even get a gas cap replacement from one shop which seems like a no brainer.
Still, I still stand behind my decision two years ago as getting two chinese quads was the only way to get me and my son in the dirt. Jetmoto has provided super support to me and if you go chinese, they are at the top.

Hi I had a Baja 250 after a few months I had leaks i tried to take very good care of the Quad but it was like a lot of people say CHINESE junk biggest problem you can only find limited supply of parts at best. I really tried to give it a shot but soon realized I had better sell it and cut my losses . For not much more money I found a 2005 kawasaki 400 .parts everywhere no leaks I should have gone in that direction to begin with . we also sold my sons but lost about $1000.00 before we could sell it buy jap or korea

I have never understood the Baja parts problem...In Ca these atvs are sold in Pep Boys Auto parts stores...they both sell auto parts and work on cars at the one near me...Why they didnt stock a few parts and work on the Baja ATV's is beyond me..IF they had done that they could be one of the best things coming from China...

I always tell people the same thing......buy a used major brand before a new Chinese brand.
Yet some people I've told had to learn the lesson the hard way....They didn't believe me for whatever reason. They all thought "I can wrench, I will fix it" etc...etc.... But forcing Honda parts to fit on a Chinese ATV is not always an option....sometimes you end up with a broken Chinese anchor..........
I have not known ONE single person who has bought a Chinese ATV and, still been happy a year later.......
It makes no sense at all to buy one with so many great used ATVs out there..... I paid $1800 for my 2000 Honda Rancher..... that was 4 years ago now and the machine has been used as a work horse.....it tows, it mows, it plows....and occasionally it blazes trails for our sport machines...... It has been totally reliable........and if it does break I know I can get Honda parts anywhere, anytime.......
What sense does it make to spend $3000 on a new Chinese machine, when $3000 will get you a still in good shape, totally reliable, easy to get parts for, much MUCH better machine made by Honda or Yamaha or Suzuki etc....?
I understand people like new things, but in the case of ATVs...... you are better off......
As yourself this....... who do you think is happier today. The people that bought a 1986 Yugo for $6,000, or the ones that bought a 1986 Chevy Cavalier for the same $6,000? I still see '86 Chevy Cavaliers running around on occasion......but now many Yugos are out there?
