Do you only have 1 spring for the 2 adjustment screws? or does the screw get loose even with a spring?

On having 2 mixture screws.....Ive been thinking about this a little and think the top screw more than likely controls air and the bottom/side screw controls fuel..

Default taotao 110D Trouble

I just got his quad for my son. I starts fine with the choke all the way open. As soon as I try to close the choke(on the side of the carb), the engine dies. I have tried to increase the idle speed but that does not seem to help. I will stay running with the choke open but if you close it more then just a little, it dies. Any help would be appreciated. The place that I bought it from is helpful, but closed on the weekends. My son really wants to try his new quad. Will following the directions in the beginning of this thread, will that solve my problem?

Thanks in advance

Yes the instructions on the first page should get you going. Is their a fuel filter on this machine? If not you might have something plugging the carb....Might need to start with a clean carb..add a fliter and then follow the instructions at the beginning.

Default Float level adjustment

I have a 65cc Quadzilla (bought it from Carter Brothers thinking I was getting an American quad) with a CVK carb. I have the carb apart and trying to figure out how to check/adjust the float level. The book says the float levrl height is 18.5mm but it does not tell me where this measurement is taken from. Great web site, thanks.

Most floats appear level when holding the carb upside down....the 18.5mm is more than likely to the top of the float(Its the bottom of the float but since the carb is upside down for the adjustment....its now the top..

did that make sense?

Yes, that makes sense, and thanks for the reply. Then I would assume the 18.5mm is the distance from the (now top) of the float to the gasket mating surface, right? Would this be with or without depressing the spring loaded portion of the needle?

Thanks

Correct to the gasget surface with the weight of the float compressing the spring...

Ok I have a Tao Tao ATA 110 D1. It was running fine until my son flipped it over.
Since then it runs rough. I have looked at the carb adjustment sticky on this site but my carb only has one adjustment screw. I believe it is the air/fuel adjustment on the right hand side of the carb. It is slightly recessed and brass and a flat head screw driver fits it. Per the sticky i warmed the bike up and screwed it all the way in and then backed it out two turns. The bike idles fine but sputters when you take off. I cannot find a screw with a spring on it for the Idle speed. Is it possible mine only has one adjustment? The only other screw that I can find is down at the bottomside of the square bowl and I think it is the bowl drain screw. The carb has TZ20 stamped on the side if this helps.
