I have a 250 twin cylinder ATV that has no spark. The motor is a vertical 2 cyl motor with a single carb. I haven't been able to find a make or model, it says made in Taiwan if that helps. Motor will crank fine, headlight, neutral light, brake light all seem to work fine, however I don't have fire.


I have replaced plugs, coil packs/wires, and CDI and still do not have any spark. My fear is that I have the incorrect CDI. The CDI box that I purchased is a DC box 6 pin (4 and 2). The size is similar to the one that was on the ATV, however I haven't seen the motor run. I do have wires going to all the pins in the CDI if this helps.

Anyone else have one like this? If so I would love some advice.

I used to have a Yamoto 250 utiility quad. it has a V-twin engine with dual carbs. When I burned up my CDI I ordered a couple CDI's and no fix (I had no spark), I did some more research on that specific number on my old CDI. I found out the engine was a clone of an older Honda 250 motorcycle. the CDi had "250SX" or "250GX".....something like that. My quad had individual ignition coils so the CDI had to be wired internally for that. All I found online looked the same and plugs/wires looked the same. Once I started searching using that specific number and ordering a CDI to match.....bam-a-lam!! I had spark and was up and running. Took me a could months to figure that out. Sounds like you may be in the same boat.

Check your old CDI for any identifying marks and go from there.
