Default Yamoto Electrical Problem

Hi iv'e purchased a yamoto 200cc quad bike and i seem to have a major problem with the starter. When i bought the quad the chap said that the starter was jammed but i took it off the quad bike and had the starter tested and the starter is spinning lovely. When the starter is put back onto the qaud there seem to be nothing not even a clicking or anything. Ive put a new battery on the bike to to see and still nothing but the quad bike will bump start fine tho. Any ideas please

When you push on the start button, and all the safety interlocks are satisfied, the starter solenoid should close (going "click") which connects the battery directly across the starter, making it spin.

So do I understand you correctly: There is no "click" from the solenoid when you push the start button? Have you tried jumping across the solenoid? Generic procedure follows:

Find the postive battery terminal, and follow the big fat red wire to the starter
solenoid screw terminal. Follow the other starter solenoid screw terminal to the
starter motor.

Turn the ignition switch to the "on" position, and set all kill switches to the
"run" position.

Important: For the following test make sure your quad is in neutral and
the parking brake is set. You are about to bypass all safety interlocks and
connect the battery directly across the starter motor. If the quad should start
up you don't want the quad to take off unexpectedly...

Now take a screwdriver and use the shank to short those two screw posts on the
starter solenoid together. Some sparking is OK.

Does the starter turn?
