Default CDI rev limiter???

Hello, I have a 2006 Redcat VX150 and I'm wondering two things. First does the CDI box have some sort of rev limiter built in and if so can it be disconnected? Second thing I just installed a new spark plug and it has the threaded end just like the one I took out put the plug wire doesn't want to seem to grab as tight as it did the old one. Does that mean I have to replace the coil? or does someone have an idea I can use.
Thank you for any help.

The standard 150cc CDI's are not adjustable. There is no way to change the ignition timing other than to go with a performance CDI. I have no experience as to what you can expect from a performance CDI.

I got a High Performance CDI for my Yamoto 150 from RaceWayAtv a couple of years ago....added about 5-6 mph to the top speed....

As for the plug being loose in the cap.....have you tried the old plug? does it still fit tight? If not something might have fallen out of the plug cap..

I did compare the old plug (Autolite) to the new plug (NGK C7HSA) and the new plug is a hair shorter and thinner but with the new plug the bike seems to run so much stronger. So I took some black electrical tape and wrapped it around the porcelain a few times and now I have a good snug fit and the coil wire doesn't vibrate off any more. The bike runs great, can anyone think of any negatives with wrapping electrical tape around the porcelain. I thought about using some heat shrink tubing but at the time the electrical tape seem much quicker.

put a high perf. cdi on the wifes 150.seemed to give it more top end and more rpms to get the power up there where it should be. same results on the 200.
