I topped out my friends DS 650 on paved road hitting the rev limiter and my GPS said 71 MPH I tried this several passes and even tried down hill ever time it would not go any faster than 71 MPH. What was impressive was how fast it got to 71 MPH. I think if you took the rev limiter off it would beating the Raptor on top speed.

Hey man4922~
What year is you DS650? Just last weekend I topped out my DS at 73 mph(not long enough stretch of road) on the GPS and that wasn't even hitting the rev limiter yet! I wouldn't doubt for a second that my DS can top out about 75 or 76 mph.

Altitude makes an engine loose HP and speed so one will go faster in Wisconson than here in Utah at 4500 ft.

Hey Air~
Good point...I never even though of elevation effecting top speed. But if the engine is turning 7700 rpm's in Utah, shouldn't it still be going as fast as the engine turning 7700 rpm's in Wisconsin? Or could there be some variances of a couple hundred rpm's between CDI's? I would think a part like the CDI would be produced within specs of maybe 10 or 20 rpm's. Maybe my thinking is way off too! Anybody know some detail about the stock CDI???

im a raptor owner not DS,but the baja is just awesom.wish id of waited on just one of my raptors, any way here is some info on elevation and hp,,,i forget the exact figures but i belive its 3% horsepower loss for every 1000,ft of elevation.im not sure but i think its a direct reflection of air density .
