Default 05 ds650 brake light problem

My brake light is only coming on when the brakes are applied. I have no light on otherwise. Any clues as to why my light is not on when the brakes are not applied? Makes for a pain to keep the brakes on as I drive by the entrance booth at little sahara OK for night riding. Thanks

Have you taken the bulb out to look at the filament? The stock bulb is a dual filament 1157 bulb (one for the taillight and a second for the brake). If one is burnt out that is your problem...

When I ran the stock tailight I was always blowing bulbs. I ditched the stock 1157 filament bulb and went with an 1157 90* LED replacement bulb. About a year later I ended up replacing the entire taillight with an aftermarket LED unit.

I'll check, might have the wrong bulb in all together. Mine wasn't working at all and I took one out of a custom bike that had the same connection
