Exclamation warning! dg baja swingarm skid plate for the ds650

do not buy the dg baja swingarm skid plate. i paid 117 for the plate it didnt fit and its totaled. i thought hey its got to be better than plastic right? nope. i installed the plate after much pain as where the plate bolts up there is 3/8 of an inch on side of space so i rigged it up with some spacers on the bolts and adjusted it all the way down just to find that the chain rubs. so i adjusted it up and grinded off 2 1/2 inches of the plate. so after one real ride(50 miles)over all terain from sand to mud to rocks that i have done many times with the stock plates it is trashed, dented to hell and some of it left on the trail somewhere. i usually have to drive fairly evasive but there was no path to take with this plate i hit every rock. im going to put the stock plastic stuff back on after this weekend.
rmatvmc was kind enough to send me a 30 buck certificate but it dont make it right. and apperantly they dont even sell it any more. lmao

Honestly, I'd give rmatv props for giving you what they did. I know I've gotten parts from other places that didn't fit right, which really sucks cause you're really wanting to put them on. But when you took the grinder to it, any other place would have told you that you were out of luck.

Thumbs down DG-defective goods

I bought the skid plate for my 01 ds 8 years ago and the oil drain hole was cut on the wrong side. If you turned the skid plate upside down the hole then lined up with the drain plug. - go figure? Rockymountain ATV did reimbuse me the 30 dollar mark up it made - hurray. If they spent as much money on quality control as they did on marketing they might have decent products? I feel your pain

Pro Armor skids are the only protection parts i will buy, i hate AC with a passion and never heard good things about DG, i did have an Armadillo rear skid plate that held up OK but design was not that nice, once i tryed Pro Armor i know they are my company of choice for protecting my goods!!! lol

I second that, my nerf bars bent after my first decent size jump on my old Suzuki.

Called them and they wouldn't do a thing about it.

I just purchased a Cobra skid plate for my DVX from DK and it was top notch. Absolutely amazing. All the edges are rolled up, high-end hardware and clamps, and all the holes, including the drain holes lined up perfect. Got it on closeout for $90!

it just sucks that it worked out this way. i was so excited (like i always am for new parts) and this is the first time i have been let down. ive never had a problem with rmatv but i had mixed feelings about this because did try to help, but they pulled the product for a reason you know. i will not be purchasing another dg product again, plain and simple. thanks for letting me vent a little.
