Default Web cams and Mikuni carb questions

Any one have any experience with the Web 590 grind cams and a Mikuni 48mm carb?

I am planning on doing the OMW 730cc conversion, and I know some one who has the above for sale for a great price.

Are these good to go with? Will they work on the OMW 730cc?

Thanks

Ive never heard of the web 590 cams. Are you sure thats right? The carb will work fine, but I would run a set of the OMW cams with your 730 kit. Or at least a set of 109s. Can I ask what the price is for the carb and cams?

Cams, carb, and ported head with squinch band shipped for $1100. All new units. I guess they are called Web 590 grind cams if that helps.

That carb brand new is 425.00 to 450.00 and web cams are around 250.00 (i think), so you are paying around 400 for the porting on the head. Assuming he'll want your current head as a core. Thats all brand new, full retail pricing. Im not sure Id call that a real good deal depending on what exactly is all done to the head. Valves, porting, springs, shimed, set up, etc.??? Can I ask exactly who it is thats giving you this deal? Who is doing the porting?

Also, I want to know more about these 590 grind web cams. Is that just a grind that this guy told you would work or are they an actual shelf cam that web offers for the DS? The most common web cam for a DS is the 109 grind. Which is considered a good cam by most people.

Erbe was the first to use the 590 cam, about a year ago. About 6 months ago they made it a standard product. The price retail for cams is 360 and web recommends the shim under - 380.

Erbe is a duner and liked to rev higher, so he changed out this cam.
With a good trail port, this cam should be good to 9k.

Overall package without more details sounds good.

Wow, web has really raised their prices. Pokoki, if your going to go with the OMW 730 kit (good choice by the way) then why not go with the rest of the stuff he offers? Such as the OMW #3 cams, and a Lectron carb 46 or 48. That way if you ever have any issues, you can call OMW and there will be alot higher chance of them being able to help you, if you have parts that they are familiar with.

This is what the email I received on the parts, but after talking with you guys and looking up the parts below, I think he has over exaggerated on what he paid.

the head is ported , the squinch band has been done, it has a new valve job, it has brand new web 590 grind cams , with the shim under conversion kit, maybe 20 miles on all parts. the carb is a mikuni tm 48 with accerator pump and twist throttle conversion. I paid almost 600 for carb kit, 1200 in cams , 700 in head work.

Sounds like I can find a better deal though...

What Goodsound said ... go with the 730 OMW cylinder for sure. Then throw his cams & carb at it - everything will work together perfectly & the customer support is priceless !

ROTFL, 1200 for cams??? He must of bought 3 or 4 sets LOL.
I just sold a TM 48 in great shape for 300 bucks.
700 for the head could be believable, depending on alot of things.

Sounds like you need to go tell this guy to %#$& a rope. He is flat out lying to you. I still cant get over the 1200.00 for cams, LOL. They better be the best cams ever known to man. The OMW cams (which are the best IMO) are 450.00 brand new.
