just as a side note & my 2 cents: i am prety religous about maintanence on my Ds. after 2 seasons of riding i had a heck of a time getting mine apart when i replace the swing arm. disassembly & inspection of this assemblyshould be seasonal(once a year) if this is done the $$ to repair would be much less. i was lucky & only had to cut the bearing off the axle after 3 hours of beating & pressing it into submission. bikebandit.com also has a full list of OEM parts & schematics as well. another item to consider is adding a grease zerk to the carrier in the low area. this way after the bearings have been properly greased and before everything is sealed up you can pump the carrier full and let eccess ai out & not wreck the seals. if its full stuff cant get in. my bearings were full of cinder dust & sand. again my 2 cents.

Good point! I will definetly be regreasing them every year. A grease zerk is a great idea as well. I opted for the RAD carrier and it came with a zerk already in it.

The first time is a mother! After that it's a piece of cake. I used a 1/2 drive ratchet and a breaker bar. And that was with 260 ass pounds of torque. Damn near killed myself but they broke free and the task was completed.
Good luck and welcome to the forum.

A good Impact gun will work best and it's much easier on you.

If you get a good impact gun you should be able to take any nut off. I couldn't budge mine with a wrench but cam right off with a good impact gun

Wow! Sounds like yours will be fun like mine was. Good luck!
Might want to try soaking it with PB if you haven't already.
