Default Stock Carb Mods - Summary

I got the carb back on and started her up and she runs great! I couldn't take it for a test ride but I let it warm up, adjusted idle to 1450rpm and reved on it a few times. throttle response is awesome! she was boggin down low probably because of the cold but now it's crisp! I rode it from my garage to the fence and now I really can't wait to take it for a spin! I left the pilot screw at 2 turns right now until I get my cdi and endcap. Need to change oil and plugs so I can really see how rich/lean she's runnin. I'll probably step down to 89 octane instead of 93. I feel like I'm a kid again! lol

Default Stock Carb Mods - Summary

In the summary, there was a 47.5 pilot mentioned. My 2003 DS has a 40, and my dealer can only get 45 and 50. I opted to order the 45. I've also got the DJ kit & K&N w/outerwear on order. Now that I've read all 6 pages of this thread, I'm wondering with the DJ kit being more rich at idle, do I need the larger Pilot? Also where should I start for the Pilot screw setting with the 45 Pilot (K&N will arrive with the DJ kit, closed airbox, stock CDI and stock exhaust)?

I'll make the other mods after I get through my first round of bolt ons.

Default Stock Carb Mods - Summary

2 turns out if 60 degree's or warmer
2 1/2 turns out if below 60

The factory sometimes used a 40 and sometimes a 45.
With DJ kit 45 works great.

Ok question is this: New to the world of DS650's I bought a 2000 DS650 from a guy that bought it directly from ALBA Motorsports new, has Ron Woods exhaust, K&n fiter and air intake scoop things. So heres the problem. It hauls ass off the the line, but falls flat on it's face in 3rd gear. It's got nothin'!!!! So I had the carb cleaned and rejetted, but it seems to be worse. I also have a 15 tooth sprocket on the front instead of the stock 16 tooth, and smaller tires on the back. Does this sound like a "fuel/air" issue that just needs to be dialed in?? Or maybe something else??
