Default Disappointing Dyno results

Hi Guys,

Just curious I got my bike dyno results and its putting out only 51.62 horse with the mods that I have.
(TM45 Carb, Ported Intake, Full RW Open exhaust, CDI & No air box)

Any idea what's the most power you can expect to squeez get out of a stock bore & piston no NOS or Turbo ?

I was really expecting to be in at least the 60's !

Let me reach back for my wallet again !

That's what I thought,

So all the bolt on upgrades I got may not have help as much as going with a full on Big bore 730 kit or some thing like that !

I am wondering if I will now be able to reach my top end faster.
Meaning I did not gain much more top end speed but I get there faster ? which is fine with me.
As my goal is to get as much as I can from the bike with out cracking the case !

O well maybe next year ? till then I want to ride till I can't ride no more.

Well, your going to get mixed numbers on a stock bike. Some say 46 and some say 38. I know with the mods that your have listed that seems about right.

I have also heard anywhere between 38 and 46. Also if you dyno'ed with knobbies on it may be a less than accurate due to tires slipping at high RPM.

Every dyno will produce different numbers. So what you really need to find out is what a stock DS dynos at on YOUR dyno. Your most likely not going to see 60HP with only bolt-on mods.

For comparison my stage II HPR stock bore pulled just over 57HP on a different, but same manufacturer dyno that MrHP uses.

Wow,

I thought the whole point to a DYNO was to set a standard by which all others can compair to !.
Meaning that 50 horse power in California is 50 horse in Colorado and is 50 horse in Texas, but if I have to factor in slipage, tire pressure, ambiant air pressure, altitude and temperature man the validity of a Dyno run really looses its value.
I can now see where all the conversations come from.

I am curious if there is a Weights and Measures testing standard that all shops that run Dyno's must be tested by for accuracy ?.
I can see how any old Joe could brag he is putting out 60hp to the rear wheels according to his dyno shop but when tested on a different dyno only yeald 49hp.
Man what a pandora's box.
O well I am just eager to get on her have some fun, drink some beer and let her rip.

I am on a pretty good kick to keep in front of my 686 Raptor friend and have gone so far as to
loose some weight to do it !
If for every 10 pounds = 1 horse ... I just gained about 3 horsees ... over the summer.....

See ya in the Dunes.

Remember...a dyno is more of a tuning tool than a horsepower/torque displayer.
